I am married with my wife Shahla Hannan and have 2 children Sehaan and Sulaimaan. We live in Hale Barns. Prior to this I lived in Timperley and have been in South Manchester for the past 18 years. I am a full-time General Practitioner based in Hyde, Tameside. My hobbies include photography, video editing, travelling and improving our health and well-being. I am one of the administrators for the South Manchester Muslims Walking Group helping to encourage us all to walk a little more and get to know each other more and those around us too.

I have a variety of other roles too including being a Director for Orbit Healthcare ltd, the local GP federation for Tameside and Glossop, Chair of West Pennine Local Medical Committee, Chair of the Association of Greater Manchester Local Medical Committees, co-chair of the Greater Manchester NHS Values Group and the Chair of the World Health Innovation Summit. Our GP practice was recently awarded Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission for the services it provides for its patients. Our Patient Participation Group was voted the best in the UK by the National Association for Patient Participation. I encourage college students thinking about having a career in medicine to come and get some work experience with us so that they can see the pros and cons of working as a GP in the current NHS. It is not easy but can be very rewarding for those with the right attitude and skills and who have the aptitude to succeed.

Success breeds success but there are many other jobs and opportunities out there beyond medicine and I have seen many people do very well and others falter due to poor advice and support. I am always keen to help others exceed their potential, achieve their goals and help to bring people together as we all have problems and many can be solved when we work together and value each others' knowledge and exerience. Others can teach us what we do not know. Whilst I am very active on social media, much of my day work involves working with individuals, families and communities. That's where massive untapped resources exist and where often problems can be solved if we just listen more carefully and help each other more.

Walking has many benefits and is an ideal opportunity for me to learn more about the wonderful things you are doing too and you also are so very special and why the world needs you too. So I look forward to meeting you soon and learning more about you and what you think and do too!
